Aycliffe Community Primary School are now using Reading Planet Rocket Phonics to deliver their phonics teaching and learning. This new Systematic Synthetic Phonics programme has been validated by the DfE and written by phonics expert, consultant and trainer Abigail Steel. Reading Planet Rocket Phonics aims to ensure every child achieves success in phonics AND develops a real love of reading and writing. 

The school uses Reading Planet Rocket Phonics which is a DfE validated story-based SSP programme . Each child is tracked through the stages of this scheme. Children who need extra support receive targeted provision in small groups. Some children, who have significant phonic difficulty, are given individual work once or twice a day.

The school uses reading books within the Rocket Phonics Scheme to ensure that reading material matches the letters that the child is learning to read.
