As we move to the end of the 2019/2020 academic year I would like to thank the whole school community for everything that they have done during the recent months. This includes, all teachers and staff who have provided our care provision during the lockdown, teachers who have prepared and overseen the home learning and each parent for working with their child at home. It has been brilliant to welcome back children in all year groups across this term and exciting to see our school returning to a place of learning. Being able to widen our opening has enabled more children to be supported in their transition to their new year groups in September.
In September we will continue maintain our emphasis on good hygiene. Children will continue to wash their hands regularly and there will be extra cleaning measures in place. We will be continuing to use bubbles, but the size of these bubbles will now be a class and adults will socially distance where possible.
We have reviewed our risk assessments in line with the government guidance and we will be reviewing them with all staff on our development day on the 1 September 2020 in preparation for the children’s return on 2 September.
The school day
With more children in bubbles the classroom organisation will change. Tables will be organised so they face forward, with less emphasis on group work but increased use of learning partners. Each class bubble will be able to use more resources but resources will not be shared between class bubbles. Children will stay in their class bubbles throughout the day and not mix with other class bubbles. We will have whole school activities, such as collective worships, virtually so we can be a community together. Each class bubble will have a separate playtime and will eat lunch in their bubble, not in the hall.
Breakfast Club and After School Club
We will be offering breakfast and After School Clubs. Places in breakfast club must be booked through the school office. Children will sit at tables in their class bubbles and enjoy their breakfast as normal. Breakfast Club runs from 7.45-8.45am each day and costs £2.
We will be writing to you all with our list of clubs for the Autumn Term in September.
Parents continue to only be allowed on the school site by appointment. Children will need to be dropped off and collected at the following entrances at the times given please.
We will be asking different children to arrive and leave at different times so we do not have a lot of children arriving and leaving at the same time.
- Reception playground gate will open at 9.00am and the children will be collected by the teacher. Parents will collect the children at 3.15pm. Please remember to socially distance while waiting
- Y1-6 can enter school between 8.45-9am. Y1-5 will enter school from the main playground. Y6 will enter through their classroom door. Parents are allowed to enter the school grounds but are not allowed on the school site (passed the playground gates)
- Y1/2 will be collected at the playground gate at 3.15pm
- Y3/4 will be collected at the playground gate at 3.20pm
- Y4/5 will be collected at the playground gate at 3.25pm
- Y6 will be collected at the pedestrian gate at 3.25pm
Y3-6 can walk to school and home from school by themselves with the normal parental permissions.
Children will be able to order a school cold lunch or bring in a packed lunch. Vouchers for free school meals will finish at the end of summer.
We will be expecting children to wear their full school uniform in September. Please could all PE clothes be brought into school in a closeable bag which holds just their PE clothes.
If a child was to become ill during the day, we would look after that child by themselves until their parent arrived. If we had any cases of COVID-19 within any of our class bubbles we would let all parents know and the individual class bubble would need to self-isolate under guidance from Public Health England.
In September we will no longer be providing home learning as it is the government’s expectation that all children return to school. The expectations and processes within our attendance policy will be operational from September.
I hope that everyone has an enjoyable summer holiday, stay safe and we all look forward to seeing everyone back in September.
Thank you for your continued support.
