Dear Parents

We are excited to invite Reception and Year 1 pupils back to school from Thursday of this week. It will be great to see everyone in Reception and Year 1 again after the period of partial closure. As you are already aware, this is our second phase in the reopening of the education provision in school. Our school continues to offer a care provision for key workers’ pupils and vulnerable pupils in other year groups.

As you are already aware things within school are different but the vision of making a difference to learning remains the same. Within all our plans we have thought about the children and their wellbeing.

Your child will be in a bubble and will remain in that bubble throughout the day- including learning, playing and eating. The desks in each bubble are socially distanced but the classrooms still look familiar. Any resources which cannot be cleaned have been packed away, but children do have access to resources and individual resources. Although we will not be playing contact games, children will still play and take part in physical exercise.

Children in Reception will arrive at 9.30 and be collected at 2.45 at the school gate please. Children in Y1 will arrive at 9.20 and be collected at 2.55 at the school gate please.

Children must wear school jumpers or equivalent and polo shirts. Instead of school trousers they can wear jogging bottoms so that pupils do not have to change for outdoor activities such as PE. They can also wear footwear suitable for PE activities throughout the day.

Good hygiene and keeping things clean will be a priority. We will be reinforcing hand washing, catch it and bin it and may ask the children to wipe their workspace with a wipe during the school day.

We will be asking for parents to drop off and collect children at different times to normal and would like to emphasise that parents should only pick up their own child to maintain social distancing. All children will be collected by an adult at the school gate. Could I remind parents that they must only come onto the school site if they have an appointment with a member of staff. All appointments must be arranged by telephone through the school office.

If your child has individual, medical or special educational needs, it is important that you discuss these needs before they return to school. Please make an appointment through the school office to speak to a member of the leadership team.

We look forward to seeing our Reception and Year 1 children on Thursday.

Yours Sincerely

John Dexter
