On Wednesday 29 June Les Poires (Class 6) have the opportunity to visit Dover Museum and then gain real life experience of castle life at Dover Castle itself.
At the museum we will be looking at the Bronze Age Boat and how this relates to Dover’s history. At the castle we will be observing the structure of the building and its use of space re room distribution through the eyes of an estate agent wanting to sell it.
The day, which links in with our theme, ‘What is there in our local area?’ will begin at 09.00am at Dover Museum and will finish at 3.00pm at the Castle.
We will not be travelling by coach, so we are asking you to drop your child off at the museum where we will be waiting to take the register.
Please drop your child off between 09.00am and 09.15am which will enable siblings to be taken to school first.
During the day we will be walking up to the castle so the pick-up point at the end of the day will be at the ticket office in the lower car park in the castle grounds at 3.00pm.
All children will require a packed lunch for this trip, however, if your child is entitled to a free school meal, a packed lunch will be provided. If it is going to be a hot day an extra small bottle of water will be needed.
Children are to wear school uniform including usual school shoes, a sun hat and a light rain Mac depending on the weather.
We recommend the children have a small backpack to carry their things in, leaving their hands free.
In line with the school’s policy, we are asking for a voluntary contribution of £3.50 per child, which pays for the entrance fee to the museum, there is no charge for entrance to the castle.
Please could you confirm through the school office that you are able to arrange for your child to be at Dover Museum between 09.00am and 09.15am and that you are able to collect your child from Dover Castle at 3.00pm from the ticket office in the lower car park in the castle grounds by Friday 24 June 2016.
Thank you for your continued support.
