Pupil Voice

The pupils in La Classe Violet had ducklings in their class this week; we asked them what it was like to watch them hatch and grow. This is what they said...

Lillie - When Mr Price bought them in we were wondering what they were; they were in an incubator. Some of them hatched in the morning and we were watching and some of them hatched in the night. It was really fun and really cute when they were cheeping because it meant that they were trying to talk to us or their brothers and sisters. We learnt that when they want to go near someone in the cage they run really fast at you. Some people were scared and they moved out of the circle and the ducklings ran away. I really liked them because they looked really cute and fluffy. On the carpet when they wanted to go to someone, they would just zoom towards you.

Layton - When I first saw the eggs I thought they were going to be chickens. Charlie and Calleb noticed the cracks. When they hatched they started to make lots of noise. I thought it was funny when they jumped on their heater. I like them because they were biting my fingers. They ran around the classroom and they swam outside. They ate duck food. I liked it when the ducklings laid down on their back. One of them was on the carpet on one side and the rest ran over to it so fast. I felt happy when we had the ducks and the ducks don’t like to be separated.

Calleb - We were happy to watch them hatch and hear their noises like duckling noises. We sat in a circle on the carpet and Mr Price and Miss Hogg put the ducklings on the carpet and everyone was scared if they nibbled them: it was Craig, Klaudia and Luca. I tried to stop them from going out of the circle but they went out of the circle. When I got home I had a surprise and in the lounge in a cage was two ducklings - I was happy! Their names are Rosie and Donald; we had them out of the cage more than once. They pooped a lot in the cage. Soon we are going to get them a pen for outside with a big door and we could sit in there with them. We are going to get them a heater to keep them warm at night.
